CLS Fabrication’s Efficiency and Precision Capabilities
Punching, bending, and forming are fundamental sheet metal fabrication processes that serve a specific purpose in creating complex and customized metal parts. Punching forms holes, patterns, or shapes using a punch and die, enabling precise customization like perforations, embossing, and tapping. On the other hand, bending involves deforming a metal sheet along a straight axis using a press brake, resulting in specific angles or contours. Complementing these techniques is forming a broader set of methods that includes bending but extends to processes like rolling, deep drawing, and extrusion.
At CLS Fabrication, we understand the importance of using top-notch machines to ensure efficiency in these processes. We constantly strive for innovation and invest in cutting-edge fabrication equipment to meet diverse project requirements. In this article, we will share in-depth insights on the technology we use to meet your fabrication needs and their numerous benefits to our operations.
CLS Fabrication’s Cutting-Edge Equipment
We employ state-of-the-art punching, bending, and forming equipment in our sheet metal fabrication processes. Here is an overview of our machinery:
Trumpf TruPunch 5000
The Trumpf TruPunch 5000 is an innovative CNC punching machine that sets new standards in productivity, process reliability, and flexibility. It incorporates backlash-free drives for the highest axis acceleration and a high-speed C axis for fast tapping and processing complex contours. The machine also boasts a robust hydraulic drive, enabling punching at 1,600 strokes per minute and part marking at 2,800 strokes per minute.
Intelligent automation components and smart functions such as sheet loading, unloading, and part sorting further enhance productivity and process reliability. It can accommodate sizes up to 60” x 120” and materials up to 5/16” thick in stainless steel, aluminum, carbon steel, and red metals.
Trumpf TruBend Series
CLS Fabrication is equipped with multiple equipment from the Trumpf TruBend Series. From the Series 5000, we have the 5230, 5170, and 5130 machines. They boast innovative features like lower tool displacement and a 6-axis back gauge for complete production freedom.
In addition, we also have the 7036 model from the TruBend Series 7000. This high-speed machine is designed for bending small and medium parts in optimal working conditions, conserving space in every production system. Its notable features include a direct drive system and an automatic angle measuring method, ensuring high output with top-notch quality.
These press brakes offer a wide range of bending capabilities, accommodating different press forces and lengths. The open machine architecture allows for increased part flexibility and processing of larger parts with tight tolerances. They can bend various materials, including stainless steel, aluminum, carbon steel, and red metals, with variable part thicknesses up to 0.250” in steel. These presses also feature ergonomic and user-friendly designs to reduce operator fatigue and increase efficiency.
